Faith can begin in a hard place.
A life interrupted
Patrick was taken captive as a teenager and brought to Ireland. While tending animals in captivity, he turned to God in prayer. The place of his suffering became a place where his faith grew.
The courage to leave
After about six years, Patrick escaped and eventually returned to his family. In his own account, he describes a dream that helped lead him toward freedom.
The courage to return
Later, Patrick felt called back to Ireland. He returned as a missionary and bishop, sharing Christianity with the people there. His story holds a remarkable change: the country where he had been enslaved became the country he served.
